Job Description

Overview:

ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Licensing Engineer I will support regulatory compliance by reviewing project activities, assessing licensing basis impacts, and preparing documentation for NRC submittals. They will assist in implementing licensing actions, respond to NRC inquiries, and provide regulatory support to engineering and plant operations teams. This full-time position is located in Richland, WA.

Pay rate: $38.21 - $44.5

Responsibilities:

  • Support project efforts by researching specified regulatory requirements and precedents and providing input, review and maintaining awareness of project activities and documentation to ensure alignment.
  • Working with established guidance or directions, review project activities and documents to assess whether or not licensing basis changes are required.
  • Support defined licensing basis changes by authoring and/or reviewing routine changes to the licensing basis that run the range from licensee authorized changes to NRC approved changes.
  • Provide lifecycle support for routine licensing actions under NRC review including developing responses to NRC requests, and supporting direct NRC interface through audits, clarification calls and public meetings.
  • Working with project management staff support others in completion of defined actions necessary for successful implementation of NRC approved licensing actions.
  • Attending industry training and workshops for personal development and growth.
  • Support Engineering Projects team members by offering limited topical level support for regulatory related project needs including assisting team members in performing regulatory fundamentals/processes.
  • Provide regulatory and technical support to existing plant regulatory and technical organizations for basic (normal and emergent) station needs.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and 1 year of engineering experience in a technical environment;
  • OR a PE license obtained by accredited examination and at least 1 year of engineering experience in a technical environment.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Process and maintain 10 CFR Part 50 or 10 CFR Part 52 licensing basis documents, including complex changes requiring NRC approval.
  • Participate in NRC licensing interactions such as presubmittal meetings and audits.
  • Hold a nuclear power plant operator’s license, basic/specialized plant engineering qualification, or general plant certification.
  • Apply general engineering principles and methods to identify and solve routine problems.
  • Use advanced techniques under guidance and provide support on Regulatory Affairs matters.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of company Core Values: Teamwork, Accountability, Mutual Respect and Trust, and Safety.
  • Possess operational experience in lieu of a Senior Reactor Operator license or certification.
  • Manage multiple tasks with overlapping schedules and varying priorities.
  • Experienced with Adobe Pro and general business software.
  • Have prior experience in nuclear compliance or licensing.
  • Exhibit a strong questioning attitude and attention to detail.
